I use to have major anxiety about food when I began this way of eating. I would obsesses over food combinations, when to eat, how much of it to eat and so on. Though I loved the results I was getting, it became a real chore to plan meals on a daily basis. No to mention my husband and kids where not feeling some of the raw foods I was preparing. So here I am, making smoothies for myself, steam veggies or soup for the kids, and home-made bread and may sauteed portabella mushrooms for my hubby.
I was in the kitchen all day. My head spinning while trying to find something that everyone liked.
See, at first, it wasn't this way. I was making all the complicated raw vegan meals. And while they where pretty tasty, they took to long to prepare and those meals where also too high in fat.
The basis for most raw food diets are: nuts. Lots of Nuts.
Now although these are natural fats, they are still fats, so we have to be careful of how much we consume.
So with doing more research, I found out that combining fats with sugars was a bad mix for digestion. It causes bloating, constipation, spiked blood-sugar etc..
I couldn't consciously go on serving my family the nut milk smoothies and the raw ice creams(at least not on a daily basis).
Today, I really don't eat nuts much at all. I don't add any oils to my food preparations, not even olive oil.
But I do have steamed broccoli topped with my raw mushroom sauce on occasion.
As for my family, I have everyone on task with what they want to eat. I really am not into forcing them to do what I do as I realize that food is a very personal thing. We have things we like and things we won't ever like eating. But the absolute no-No's are: rice, white flour, sugar, meats, chicken, fish, dairy, and corn
Now with my baby girl, I have to beguile her into eating healthy. Can you imagine, she's not even 2 years old yet and she already is attracted to certain foods.
Its funny, when I make the green smoothies, in order for her to drink it I have to disguise it in a cup with a lid because if she sees that its green, she'll run away, but if I give her a cup with a straw, she'll suck it down! That's too funny.
My teen daughter is still into snacks like cookies and such so I let her have them as long as she drink her water and get her greens in on a daily basis. I allow her to have a "cheat" day which will consist of spelt cookies, or air popcorn.
I'd rather her have that than she sneak off with friends and have burgers and fries, Yuck!
Now my hubby.
I will cook for him too, but these days I have been subtly training him to prepare his own food himself, so we've gone from serving him dinner, to food prep, to know mixing in spices and before long, I anticipate that he will be able t manage on his own.
A big part of health is to be stress-free. I don't preach to anyone who doesn't want my help and that includes family and friends. My sanity, my state of mind a high priority on my list of must-haves and I really don't allow anything or anyone to compromise that.
If you want to feel more calm, happy and creative, I would highly suggest getting in some raw foods.
Maybe even do a 4 day raw food only fast. See how you feel. Notice the changes in your body(sleeping habits, weight, pains etc..)
The biggest thing is to keep it simple and save the gourmet stuff of a special night out with your family^)
Until next time

Contributor's Note
Sometimes it can be hard for everyone to be on the same page with your weight-loss journey. I find the best way to deal with it is to let things flow. I used to be preachy about my rawfood lifestyle but this only repels. Good health starts with a good attitude!
